The problem with Modelart.
Modelart is the only place I (can) buy my models. But they lack commitment to customers. I have been sold defective models by them, and have learnt the art of checking models now.
1) The Jeep Rubicon I have has a melted, read melted rear bumper, tail-light and no. plate. I might have taken them to consumer court, but unfortunately, I opened the box more than 2 weeks after the purchase. 2) The rear bumper of my Autoart S63 AMG looks like it has been stuck back on. Luckily for them, it wasn't very visible, and I was in no mood to return the model as I was in love with it, and discovered the defect 2 days after displaying it. 3) I rang up Modelart Dilli and asked them to mail their model list, and said I was a regular customer at Bangalore, but no email has been recieved so far. 4) The people there seem sleepy, and don't respond well all the time. They rarely respond to my questions properly. I feel sore about the Jeep Rubicon everytime I lift it, and feel it is best confined to my display, side/front facing. I hope they will sell with better enthusiasm, and more honestly. Overall, my experience has been good with them, and have a somewhat established collection thanks to them. I might not deal with them as much as I've did so far, as 60-80% of my model purchases will be thru the US now. Cheers

RE: The problem with Modelart.
Arkin, sorry to hear about your problems. I used to always ask the Modelart Bombay guys to check the model for me before they could bill it. The Bombay team was the best there ever was and a very enthusiastic bunch. I am in contact with them even after the shop closed down long ago. I have returned models 2-3 times because of some defect I happened to see after taking it home and if they had a ready piece, they would replace it for me or else ask me to take another model in its place.
The Bangalore guys were complete duds. I came back from my trip to their southern branch without buying a single piece of diecast. Zero knowledge and sub zero enthu! Sadly even the owner doesn't think about the hobby beyond the business point of view. Lots of arrogance and it rubs off on the staff too. The Modelart warehouse is just a 5 minute walk from my workplace but there is nothing that can make me go there because of total lack of inventory. If you can't dazzle them with brillance, baffle them with bullshit. ![]() |

RE: The problem with Modelart.
I visited Modelart, Delhi around 6 months back and that was first time I saw Autoart models in real. Before this I'd only seen pictures on the net. I was very excited and was asking them so many questions about new arivals and all, and they were so lousy half of my excitement was gone right after one small conversation. Before going to Delhi I made calls from Kolkata and they sounded so laid back. The same thing happened when I visited them in person. They never seemed to make an effort to sell me anything. They surely had no clue what they had in inventory and when I was about to leave after buying my silver E320, I fortunately asked them whether they had it in purple, that was when one of them opened his mouth and said a yes. I off course changed the silver for a purple. And certainly it never seemed like they wanted me to visit their shop again. Modelart should have people working for them who have at least a bit of enthusiasm for cars.

RE: The problem with Modelart.
I will probably not be visiting Modelart for a long long time. Most of my models will be imported.
I won't have to run about a place that doesn't seem like they wanna sell and mot treated like a customer, I can also get the cars for much cheaper. :O |

RE: The problem with Modelart.
I have so far purchased 4-5 models and had a post in my website "http://www.xdiecast.com/?p=36", for me buying from modelart is a breeze because every time I go there I checkout the whole place take pics and have a nice chat with the people then actually go for a kill(buy). I never experienced any discomfort but can see lack of enthusiasm in most of the employees but there is this one guy named “aran” or something who is kind of nice in terms of selling and background info checks.
I have not been to many stores because I too import most of the models, but the modelart guys are much much better than “Saphire Toys”, “Toyopia”, “Landmark” and “ShopperStop” who treat you like a first toy buyer. Saran - always online! http://www.xdiecast.com |

RE: The problem with Modelart.
Yes. They are. But the sell premium models, and some kind of decorum is expected when you buy a premium model.
From my experience at Richmond and IRR, Saphire toys has been way more courteous and helpful. Toyopia sucks. Landmark & SS, the battered boxes say it all. Having bought 10+ models from modelart and 5-6 at Saphire. :O |
