Unity in diversity - The phrase that we learnt in our history classes for our motherland India. One of the amazing countries of the world. Diversified people, geography. culture, yet we all sing the national anthem.

I am starting this thread with a vision to make travel a diecast the whole of India, from one member to another, each from a different state. The model will be signed by the respective member and forwarded to the member in the adjoining state, he can take pictures with his collections, take the model outside and shoot some landmarks of his city. Or shoot pics with the traditional "thali" of that state.

The model will be flagged off from Mumbai, by Winston. It will return to him as well. We are yet to decide on a model but, it will be a 1:18 and it should have ample space for so many member's sign.

But before that we need to know, currently what is our position. What states are covered so far. Remember you have to be a resident of that state and not on "job purpose".

I will start with mine,

West Bengal.

Also, your valuable feedback in this respect is expected to make the whole thing a success.

Great Intiative I must say, We have a number of SMCians here in Delhi, we all will sign it and will try to celebrate the arrival of model by organizing a G2G.

Delhi SMCins, I request you to pour your ideas on the same.

Good Idea....Just a Suggestion from me : Why not make it a zonal affair....I mean people from different zones should meet up at a place !!!
This would allow more SMCians to meet each other

This is really going to be fun, exciting and a boost to this hobby. I'm in from PUNJAB.

Pratham, zone will cover more than one state so it better be state-wise and yes, it can be city wise as well. Within a State you can pass it on to another SMCian of same state but different city. Get-togethers are a separate issue. What do you say, Ari & Winston?

Please allow me to mention few suggestions for this travel:
1. The model should not be a vintage because such models are difficult to pack and get damaged easily in courier. So it should be with lesser protruding parts.
2. The color can be silver or white or any light shade for marker in visibility.
3. The model can have a small sticker saying "www.ScaleModelCarz.com", something like we stick on car windows for publicity.

In this respect I would like to mention to everyone, you will not benefit much from this, other than FUN. On top of that you have to receive courier (free), send courier (costs) and some time for shooting photos on all. So if you feel the whole thing does not fit your bill, do not bother to participate.

A maximum of three members from each state of 3 different cities or Union Territories get to participate. If there are more than one member in a particular city, they can meet up and take the pictures together.

Man, this is a ducking AWESOME idea there Ari!! I am all for it. I hail from Jamshedpur so that covers Jharkhand (although a big problem is I just returned to Indore today for my next semester so technically speaking I'm now in MP Sad

But I hope to go home again maybe in October or late September so this issue can be worked out.

Also, 3 cheers to KV for those valuable suggestions. I agree 100% with all 3. Also, one more small suggestion, if we could finally do some publicity of the signed diecast to some magazines like OD or Auto India or something like that or maybe even NDTV, it would give a huge huge boost to this hobby. Hope we can seriously make this thing work. Cheers!!!

hey ari,
the idea is just amazing. i'd also like to suggest one thing here. once everyone has uploaded their pics with the model along with their collection, we could may be print a small book displaying the pics of members with their collection ? then may be give a copy of it to the auto magz as this could bring in more awareness about scale model collection.it could be a bit tacky process but i think it could work. Secondly guys i m located in ahmedabad and i'm not sure if any other person's a member of smc from my city or state so is there a way to find out ? pls lemme knw. thanx
