Burago Morgan Aero 8 aka RETROD
Well, I finally got this strange looking car styled in retro fashion (hence my nickname for it). Had come across it once in Calcutta Starmark but then they had so many options that I had to leave it. I got this one couriered directly from Enn Ess Trades, Delhi.
Here's a new style of review writing I thought up of - crisp and to the point. PROS: 1. Amazing paintwork and finish. The paintwork is one of the best from Burago with awesome metallic glint. 2. Chromework on door handles and wipers is pretty decent. 3. The tyre rims are very well done with markings of "OZ racing" on the rims. There are also brake calipers and discs which is definitely going the extra mile for Burago. 4. Interiors are quite good too with a chrome dashboard. 5. Wood-like finish on door inside is decently done. Good attention to detail here by Burago. 6. Awesome beautifully done rear lights setup, love the small roundish brake and indicator lights. 7. Seats are much better done than most other Buragos and they also recline forward a bit when given a slight push. 8. Love the Morgan symbol on the rearside and "Aero 8" written on the boot. CONS: 1. Scale seems to be a bit of a problem here. Don't know why Burago doesn't take this seriously. 2. Engine detailing is pathetic, just an arrangement of differently sized and shaped plastic blocks. 3. Vents on the hood and side front fenders could have been made hollow to lend a more authentic feel. But maybe this is asking for too much from Burago!! 4. Side RVM's are really loose, they can come off if not being careful while handling the model. However, the good part is they can be fixed back on very easily. Here's a summary of the model so that you know where it stands in the major aspects: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

RE: Burago Morgan Aero 8 aka RETROD
Thanks Ravi, Amit and Saran....I really wanted to get my hands on this really unique British icon, Richard Hammond reviewed one in Top Gear and Clarkson and May just kept making fun of how cockeyed it looks!!! This car might look stupid but sounds absolutely evil, it has got a great powerful Spitfire kind of sound!!!
Offtopic - I crossed the 1000 post mark, just noticed it now

^^ Why what?? If you're asking why I got this car, it's because I like it.

RE: Burago Morgan Aero 8 aka RETROD
^^ Thanks for the table!!! I do love vintages but this is actually not a vintage. Morgan started production on this in 2001, so it's a properly modern car with vintage-like looks. According to Wiki, it has been criticized for its "crosseyed" looks. I for one, find it quite amusing. Why shouldn't a company now and then design something totally out of the ordinary?? Morgan have done a commendable job of mixing the old with the new. If only there was a model of the coupe version as well, I would have preferred it over the roadster version.

RE: Burago Morgan Aero 8 aka RETROD
Karan...thats a nice review of a really nice car. Easily one of Maisto's best efforts. The interiors are my favorite part of the car and so also the wheels. The wood finish is so much like genuine wood. I do not have any Autoart/Kyosho/Minichamps that betters it. The engine on the other hand is a major let down. Maisto has done the greatest injustice to the award winning BMW 4.4L V8 engine in there.
When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk. ![]() |
