Here is something which I found out on Youtube. It is video tour of the Minichamps Museum. It show some real novel ways of showing off your collection.

RE: What are the best ways to showoff your priced possession ?
Thanks all for the compliments. The cabinets were made when we shifted to this house back in 2003. Back then I had only about 60 model cars and I had promised myself and my parents that the figure would not cross 75. But then promises are hard to keep right? Modelart came to Bombay in 2004 and my collection went from 60 to 75 (Nissan Skyline GTR R34) to 100(Maybach 62 back in 2005) and now to around 135 or so in no time.
There are 1:43-32-24-18 stuffed to the gills in those cabinets. I have obviously run out of space and there is no more room for newer models. The idea then was to make the display look like a fireplace with the central cabinet holding a few curios. Now the curios have been designated a separate place in the study. Big Grin In hindsight, it would have been better for me to make a big cabinet that spans the same area of the current display but as a single unit. I would have more space to better display the cars.
People, young and old have always been filled with wonder and awe when they see the collection. Even my neighbor sometimes brings along his guests to have a look at the collection. His kid now preserves his cars in his tiny showcase after seeing me do the same. Have to remind him he is still young to do it and enjoy playing with his cars that he has. After all it is the adults who made these toys into collectibles. Smile

Do anybody have any idea on acrylic display cases available in India(minichanps, autoart or any local make)? Single or stack type. My collection is growing and so as the worry of the care! Planning of buying some but the only option as of now is importing but that is ultra crazy!

Prices and contact infos would be great.

@winston: Superb display cases you got, would really love to have something similar.
@asaran23: I am looking for individual display cases too, something stackable would work good. Maybe with individual display cases, a big display cabinet may not be necessary. I am also looking at option at getting them done since I myself need couple 100s for 1:24s and 1:18s. At our factory, we do get plastic boxes with clear acrylic windows embedded manufactured for our electronics, I will have to check with them to see if they can mould the acrylic display cases we need. Mostly importantly got to see if they can do a good quality job as well as the costs involved.

I need a showcase for my collection now. My mom keeps yelling at me for buying newer models without a place to keep them . Any ideas or pics of some display which can be made ??

Pics will be more than helpful.

Kids(and kid minded) who live around who visit my house (in my absences actually) and try to keep their hands on whatever they can which unfortunately includes my collection. So I made 3 level show arrangement – first one is a small 1:32 compatible case put on the hall, the second is a 2 wooden (floating shelf) right above my workstation which usually has 4 to 6 models and the final one is actually a closet where I removed few shelf and place 6 planks of glass and stored most of my priced collection. Access to the last display can be acquired only on my presence (kind of super private).

I know it is so stupid to hide your collection but I feel collection is personal satisfaction (preserving the possession is more important than showing off). I am working on achieving both, but that will take years of R&D and miles of creativity.

And Amit, post some pics of your showcase I am intrested in seeing your setup.

Today it look like a over crowded parking lot
