Hot Wheels 1:18 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Hey guys, wanted to share one of my most precious models in the collection - a probably now-extinct Aston model from the late Hot Wheels. I think this was one of the last few HW pieces leftover when I bought it almost 2 years back from the ebay seller Maisto_Scale_Models, which is actually, I think, a part of Modelart itself.

Anyhows, I'll try to keep this review short Tongue Bodywork is perfect, exact proportions and stance nicely captured by HW. One remarkable thing that I felt as soon as I held the model in my hands was the tight fitting of all panel parts on the bodywork unlike in most Maisto models. The model felt as a complete whole, hard to describe it in words really.

In other aspects like interiors, engine details, the car is like a typical Maisto. Engine detailing is okish, not very extravagant. Interiors are slightly better. I liked the dashboard and the seats are the best feature of the interiors, look at the pics of the interior.

Wheels are also quite well done. Love the rim design in the Aston. Visible brake discs which are again nicely done.

Overall, a definitely well done model and a must-have for exotic lovers. Forgot to mention the paintwork. It's excellect with even, metallic shining finish. The car looks gorgeous in yellow. However, one negative point is the lack of openable boot.

Overall rating - 7.5/10 - A bit overpriced at 1700 bucks (atleast by 300 bucks, I feel) but it's one of those rare ones now so grab it if you do manage to come across one. Especially considering the fact that Maisto doesn't make the Vantage.

Looks gorgeous is yellow Karan. I found one in aqua marine green. The yellow is a killer color for this one and very apt for such a fun car. The last photo looks nice. How about clicking some on the driveaway with the flowering plants in the background. That would be a very English setting for this very English car. What say?

You are spot on about the colour. Yellow is probably the best one for this Aston. I want to form a small lineup of Aston too in my collection. Want to add the DB4, the DB5, the DB7 Vantage and the V12 Vanquish and the Volante. Burago have made the Vanquish in dark green colour and it just looks pure evil. Haven't come across it till now anywhere. From the pics on the net, it definitely looks one of the better done Buragos.

Wish I could click some on the driveway but I clicked all these pics way back and I just took them off now from my picasa album. Maybe when I go home next time which is in about 3 weeks or so.

Edit - Why did you guys lock the jeep thread that Ari wanted to sell? Diablo, I smell something.......did you buy them?? Not that I wanted to since I changed my mind when I read the word plastic Tongue

We will wait for those pics Karan. I hope those Wellys hit the store there before you head home.
No Karan...what you smell is superglue that will be used to put the jeeps together Wink...and I did not buy them...just convinced Ari that there is a 12 year old who can build those for him and he was sold on that idea. So you see...or else there would be some new member who joins after 6 months and out of the blue asks Ari for those gems.

Good for you Ari, glad you changed your mind about selling those off....you have to enjoy what you get. I am not a Tamiya fan but those are pretty rare to come across so selling them off should be the last thing on your mind!!! And the same goes for the Kyosho Miura that you were trying to part with.

Nice one Karan! Beautiful car.. beautiful rims.

I almost got one my self, but I think (it's only me) an Aston should always be silver.
