RE: What i picked today.
Went to Toy Corner today with the hope that they would still have the Welly Pontiac Firebird in stock but sadly it wasn't. Came back with a Maisto Porsche Carrera GT in silver instead!!! Will post detailed review and pics soon.

RE: What i picked today.
Congrats Karan. Been to the Modelart distributors today and they have recieved the biggest consignment of models. There are nice red Range Rover Sports, blue BMW M5s, MB CLS, red 500Ks, old and new SLRs, pink and red Cadillac ElDorados, Jeep Rubicons, lots of bling bling modified models of nice cars (which I think is real waste of precious zamac).
So if you guys have missed out on something, make sure you get it this time, especially the normal red Rubicons. When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk. ![]() |

RE: What i picked today.
Winston, they also had the Maisto BMW M5 in bluish silver. And this is after a really long time that I have been zapped by a sedan. The last time this happened was when I had bought the Jag S-Type. I had once come across the M5 in maroon but this bluish silver finishing just looked plain awesome. Maisto have indeed done a commendable job on the M5. I took some time deciding whether to bring home the Porsche or the M5. They also had the pink Eldorado but someone had already paid for it in reserve. But did get the chance to see it up close. I knew it is a long car but up close, it really defies expectations. Just looooooong, the model must be more than a foot long. Looked super cool!!! And they also had the Merc CLS class in blue. I think the CLS looks best in plain old black. The new Merc E class by Maisto is available on ebay shop ice'nslice if you are interested.
Edit - Oh yeah they also had the 1:18 assembly kit Ferrari F50 in red from Maisto. The only reason I left it coz it was the cabriolet version, not the coupe. Had it been the coupe, I think I would have chosen it over the Porsche. My favorite post on SMC "I wait for the day when you go ballistic while buying models after you get your first job. RE: What i picked today.
Karan, you cannot go wrong with either the cabrio or the coupe version of the F50. With the cabrio, you can admire the beautiful interiors at a glance. I say you should have both if you can.
The Eldorado also comes in the Playerz version with shiny fat wheels and tires and interiors. It looks definitely better finished that the normal version and being such a flash car by itself, the playerz edition doesn't actually look over the top and compliments the car well. The BMW M5 was supposed to be coming in proper blue as well and I love it in that color. Missed out getting the Kyosho example from Shiv and still kicking myself sore for it. RE: What i picked today.
Thanks Ayie. The Horch looks classy.
The F50 was supposed to be an F1 car for the road with the suspension bolted directly to the engine. Didn't work so well there but what a gorgeous design it was. The F50 was my 3rd diecast. I got it in Oct 1999. When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk. ![]() |

RE: What i picked today.
For me the F50 has to be in hard-top version no matter what. I think the F50 was brought out in both hardtop and convertible versions and not just as a targa with removable hardtops. Removing the roof takes away a major portion of the overall design of the car. If you have observed the F50 carefully, notice how the slope of the roof and the slope of the rear spoiler complement each other. This was not so in the F40. The pic below is of my 1:24 assembly kit F50 by Maisto.
