kvsk4 Wrote:We might see fresh stock of Welly in 10 days or less, probably. No info at the moment about what models they might import. I'll be updated by my contact coming Monday after he arrives back from meeting his seniors. Only then can the true picture be known. Also, if some of you guys can draft a list of Welly models so that I can forward it to Zapak people. Maybe we can get something that we really need. KV, if you can persuade these guys to get what we want, nothing would be better. I have compiled my Welly wishlist here in case you can work out something positive. Thanks. 1982 Chevrolet Corvette (will die to get this one) 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Woody (was available now but in horrendous bright green colour, would love the brown or black version) Porsche 964 Turbo 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 1970 Chevrolet El Camino 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Jaguar XK Coupe BMW Z8 I shortlisted the above direct from Welly's website. RE: Frustrated Indian Collector
KV, you are absolutely right about taking the hobby as much affordable as possible. To introduce the likes of HW to kids as miniature scale models would be like changing years and years of marketing strategy. And it will not happen in a year or two. So many of the HW cars are ust fantasy models. To make them look like real miniatures would require them to be as accurate as possible to the real thing at minimum cost. The likes of HW would never bend to this demand. Action City made some really really nice 1:64 models as close as possible to the real thing with the best looking interiors I have ever seen on 1:64s. I brought many of them for around 50-60 each. That is the kind of models we need to spread the hobby. The rise in scale would be then gradual.
I agree with Karan's list though I would need only 2-3 of them. The 964 has not yet been released. So we might have to wait for that one. There are a lot of cars that are there on the Welly site that would do fantastically here. When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk. ![]() |

Karan - 1982 Corvette from Welly?
Will KILL to get this one! Agree with Winston. The rise in scale should be gradual. As we got bigger & our finger got fatter, the size of the cars also need to be bigger so that it is easier to hold. Why I said this? I'm STILL playing with this car, when wife & kids is not around/sleep! |

gtmaniac Wrote:Karan - 1982 Corvette from Welly? Ayie, when I got the news that the Indore store here had received a fresh stock of Welly models, my first prayer was for the availability of the '82 Corvette. The only other version available to us is the Autoart version with Modelart but I'm not paying 5000 bucks for that. Probably the only difference between the Autoart and the Welly versions would be in the opening of the concealed headlamps and the removal of the roof panels. But right now, I can live with the lack of these features. After the Stingray, this is the next most gorgeous Corvette (and of course, the Manta Ray, the '82's cousin) and getting this would fill a huge hole in my Corvette lineup. RE: Frustrated Indian Collector
Karan, I am with you. I didn't buy the Corvette when it was for 3.5K or was it 4K and I am definitely not getting it home for 5K. The Welly it is for me. I have the 1979 UT Corvette which is a pace car for that year's Indianapolis. Will post pics soon but nothing like a normal 1982 road car for me.

Me too play with these cars & bikes but the difference is I mostly play with my son---- on bed in winters and on floor in summers. I actually like the head on collisions, my son pushes his car towards me and I push mine with full force towards the on coming car from my son's side, the cars collide and....what a fun it is. Also, I usually put one car on my desk in office occasionally and drive it around the laptop and pen-stand, it is so relaxing you know. Winston dear, I suggest you let your cars come out of the display cabinet often and roll them on floor. It is so much pleasure to see these cars moving. |

RE: Frustrated Indian Collector
Karan, just wanted to let you know that your efforts might not go waste. Few days back I emailed the Wely list compiled by you below to my Zapak contact. He forwarded my email to his boss and their reply was positive. They are happy to see the list and say that it will be their best endevour to import those models in the next consignment.
Cheers!!! karansharma8783 Wrote:KV, if you can persuade these guys to get what we want, nothing would be better. I have compiled my Welly wishlist here in case you can work out something positive. Thanks. |
