My Mini Garage
Finally decided to start a thread for my collection. Will be posting new additions to my Mini garage here.
To start off with, here are snaps of my garage as of today:

The overcrowded comp table:

The 1:6 giants with 1:10s and lone 1:9 Rc:

Supposedly shoe rack crammed with 1:12 bikes, yet to find space for these:

Few 1:24/1:18 cars and 1:18 car kits yet to see day light:

Prime real estate for the midgets:

RE: My Mini Garage
Last weekend's additions:

Maisto - 1:18
Ford Mustang GTA Fastback (1967)

Burago - 1:18
Mercedes Benz 300 SLR #722 M.M. 1955

Bought these two from our Kv's own http://www.dreamcarmodels.com/
and boy was i surprised! The packing was torture proof and cars landed with out a single scratch or shake, thanks to Kv's impeccable packing.
Finally, after all these years, the big boss arrived in style, yes am talking of the huge ass mustang! I desperately needed this icon in this scale and so far was unable to locate any budget model. Finally maisto site showed this up few months back and KV informed here that it is going to be available in dcm few weeks back, immediately bought one!
Will post detailed pics in another thread (after i take them)
The merc was just an added bonus, the mustang over shadowed it all the way for me! It took the snub with stride and the old timer is sitting it out to gain my attention.

Here are few pics, straight from the box:

The Weekend surprise package:

RE: My Mini Garage
I like to agree with Bandhav here. Vaas's collecting pace is just phenomenal, I think Vaas, perhaps you average about 2 or 3 1:18 scale models a month!! I think you started collecting 1:18 scale long after I did but in this short span you have overtaken me. At this rate, you will probably be responsible for clearing out Modelart's stock Big Grin

The Mustang looks nice. It's all I can say now since I have the AA version. But I don't want to take away your joy and ecstasy right now. I know how it feels when you have been dying for a particular model this long and it finally ends up in your collection after a long, long wait. This happened with me in the case of the '65 Corvette Stingray. And the Mustang is one model which should be there with every collector even if he is not a muscle fan. It's a legendary icon no doubt.

P.S. - Vaas, consider posting a list of all your 1:18 scale model cars. Am interested in looking at it.

RE: My Mini Garage
Awesome collection already Vasanth. 5 years hence, with our bad influence on you, you will need few more cabinets like that. Are you a Ferrari fan? Imagine that if we had a steady supply of Ferrari models, guaranteed that your collection would have been twice of what it is now. Once you start, you just cannot stop.
The 300 SLR is just an awesome model. Back when I got mine, I was not so certain of adding it but upon reading the history of the car, I ran back to Modelart next day and got the 722 first and the 104 the next weekend. The Maisto Mustang is nice model by Maisto. I hope they bring in the green one soon too.
Just a little info that I got from the importers of Maisto. Say that the Mustang comes in two colors from Maisto. Both the colors have to be certified by a lab saying that it is non toxic and only then will it be allowed to be sold in India. It seems someone put a case on the toys imported from China and all such toys have to get a certificate of compliance. I am wondering how complicated it has already made things that were not simple in the first place. I have grown up chewing on hot wheels and matchbox cars and I don't think I am going to die of lead poisoning so soon.
Also, the new Mercedes Benz E class car has been released by Maisto and some are found on Ebay. So, if you are a Mercedes fan, book yours now.
Sorry to go off topic in your thread Vasanth. Maybe the lead is really affecting me.

Big Grin Am not in to collecting specific model/brand, i pick up what ever appeals to me and when we have a major mini collector like you, how can one think of competing with you? Big Grin
Mustang is same on the lines of camaro and pontiac Gto, finishing is good. I won't say that maisto has put full effort in to this, but it's better than their recent fares. As the lone budget model of mustang, it's the default choice.

Thanks bandhav, it's kind of like hunger now, i keep picking up the scalemodels when ever i get an opportunity, am already thinking of miura when i still have two 1:18 car kits yet to assemble. I don't dare to look at my finances after these kind of spendings in quick succession.

My average varies karan, i added more scalemodels during the discount season few months back, when most of the malls here were giving discounts for scalemodels, my major haul was from landmark and pantaloons. But from my own observation i see that i manage to add atleast 2 scalemodels (car or bike) every month. It depends on what i come across. I don't think i will be able to clear out model art though Big Grin they have majorly AA and Big F brands which don't make sense to me.

I know karan, maisto mustang doesn't stand against AA's mustang. But for me this is all i want, i don't want to spend more than 2k on any scalemodel. My next upgraded mustang may come in form of 1:18 welly mustang, which will be slightly better than maisto, but that's luck again. Am waiting for the day i come across 1:18 wellys. I still rue the fact that i missed the corvette stingray, hope to get that soon, may be KV can source it for despos like me Big Grin I agree about mustang being a must have. I had mustang in 1:24 but when i started to get other muscle cars like pontiac, chevy nova, camaro etc i started missing mustang in this scale, now that the boss is here, am glad that the line up is now having the king and now on whether i get to add more muscle cars or not doesn't matter, can take it slow now.

I will definitely post the 1:18 list soon karan, i think i have to start using excel and make list, will prolly do that on some weekend and will share it here.

I just love your sarcastic humour diablo Big Grin am glad to be in 'bad company' here Big Grin Am not a ferrari fan, the only reason i picked up the ferrari assembly kits was because of discounts, else wouldn't have bothered. Am looking forward for the green mustang too, will prolly add the green too once it comes out Big Grin
The lab proceedure is bureaucratic to say the least, when we breathe/drink/eat poison in our highly polluted cities our stupid govt is worried about lead poisoning from these scalemodels from china! I wish the govt worried about issues that require immediate attention than screwing around testing chinese goods. Let them first test the wall paints that are sold here and then tell us how many are safe to be used to paint our homes.
Am not a fan of mercs so i think i will pass the E class. Am interested only in vintage mercs not the present mercs for some reason.
