Once again My very first 1:18s cars!
Most of you guys know about my story with the scale 1:18, that how on a impulse i bought two lambos in this size and subsequently sold those to our fellow collector vaas. The reason for letting those go was the realisation that 1:18 in cars is not my cup of plate, and i was pretty sure that my car collection will never (as of now) have anything on the right side of 1:24.
But today my collection boost of two 1:18 cars. No this is no result of any impulsive buying. Its just that a friend of mine how understand my passion for scalemodels and also recognize his lack of the same, gifted me his entire collection, unfortunately it consists only two cars. I feel its enough of introduction, now lets come to main thing, what cars?? And the answer is: 1, UT BMW M3 Coupe 2, AutoArt Aston Martin DB5 As of now please manage with this low quality pic, will post some DSLR quality pics in short while.

RE: Once again My very first 1:18s cars!
Bandhav, I fervently hope that these additions have still not stimulated any interest in you for 1:18 diecast cars because believe me, both of these are absolutely rare gems and both are very much in my wishlist. Particularly, for this BMW, which for me is one of the most outstanding BMW designs. I have been interested in this particular BMW since the time I was in school and had played NFS High Stakes in which it had starred. I think as a first BMW in my collection, this would be the perfect piece.
Now coming to the point, are you interested in selling either or both of them and what price are you looking for? I don't think the UT BMW would cost much and if you are willing to let go of the Aston for a smaller price (since it is an Autoart), I am ready to buy them both. Waiting for your reply (hope it is in the affirmative )

OMG! An Autoart Aston DB5! Real hard to come by.
The other is M Coupe, I believe, an enclosed M version of Z3. also known as 'breadvan' - albeit a FAST one. God u are lucky! |

RE: Once again My very first 1:18s cars!
Congrats Bandhav. That is the BMW Z3M coupe...one of the best driver's cars of its time. Not many people might be crazy about the shape (including me) but according to TopGear it was really a nice track day car. The Aston Martin is very nice too and green is my favorite color on the car.

RE: Once again My very first 1:18s cars!
Diablo said it right. The BMW M3 coupe is one of the strangest designs. This is actually just the hardtop coupe version of the BMW M roadster as Ayie and Winston have mentioned above. But as this quote below goes (which I have picked up from http://www.1-18scalecars.com/0BMW_Z3_M-Coupe.htm), you either hate it or love it. And I think I don't exactly love it but it's atleast something quite different from the normal road going cars that BMW produced (and which looked quite similar, so if you have one BMW sedan, you have them all). I had come across this diecast back in 2007 in Mumbai Modelart showroom when I hadn't even started this hobby. Coming across this now, I just can't leave it. Bandhav, forgive me for insisting again but please do let me know if you plan to get rid of them.
"This odd looking machine was introduced by BMW in 1997 as an addition to it's Z3 range. In order to improve the handling of the Z3 Roadster, BMW decided to introduce a Coupe version, which would be stiffer and therefore sharper handling than the Roadster. From the window line down it is essentially the same as the soft top car, but it's unusual roofline endows the car with looks that you either love or hate! I have to say I think it looks great! It looks like nothing else on the road today, which is praise indeed when modern cars are forever being criticized for all looking alike." RE: Once again My very first 1:18s cars!
Modelart used to have this car and they used to give it away for 995 Rs and still had no takers. But they had it in boring silver which didn't help in making the car look better anyways. Estoril Blue looked really good on this car and so does black and maroon. I know someone who needs this car real bad and if he sees it here, he is sure to twist your arms till you agree to give up the car.

No way Diablo. Bandhav, if you are reading this, I'm offering you 800 bucks for the UT BMW......don't know how much to offer for the Autoart Aston, why don't you reply soon to this. I am working on the assumption that you do actually want to part with both of these.

RE: Once again My very first 1:18s cars!
At this moment i am not very sure that i gonna keep these or not but these being gifts there are very less chance that i will part with these.
And just FYI my friend picked these two models for 250 INRs in a crazy stock clearing sale, how i wish i were there. |
