Independance of the Seas
Now for something different from me. Presenting the Independance of the Seas.
My bro-in-law was working on the largest cruise ship in the world and decided to surprise me with a] model of the ship (knowing very well that his sister has married to a man crazy about anything with an engine) when he came back again and boy! was I surprised...very pleasantly. The Independance is a from of trio of 3 such similar ships, the others being the Freedom and the Liberty. You must have seen the building of the Freedom on the Discovery channel. I have watched it upteem times on DVD and to hold the ship in my hands is simply a joy.
The model is 11" in length, 3" at its highest and 1.75" at its widest. Its made of something like ceramic and seems to be hand painted. Anyways, its something really nice to have as a souvenier of having been part of the greatest ships of all times. Now I hope that on his next trip, he is assigned to the Oasis class of ships which can carry 8000 passengers and still bigger than the Freedom class which carries about 6000. Some more pics on the link below.

No Ari...not into ships but it is a welcome addition and it is more of a souvenir to show my grandkids that their granduncle worked on one of the grandest and greatest machines ever made by man.

Ooh!I've got a very similar hand-painted model of the SuperStar Virgo of the Star Cruises fleet that I bought off the onboard gift shop. These make for excellent souvenirs.Smile

RE: Independance of the Seas
lol @ Ravi. I don't know buddy. But I got to thank my bro-in-law for this pleasant surprise. I was just watching 'Big, Bigger, Biggest' on Discovery and they were showing how enormously fascinating this ship is. I have some planes too. Mostly my favorite Boeing 747s. Will post that collection in a few days. Bit tied up with things here.
