Hand build/Handmade Models
Hi,
I am new to this forum; I collect miniature models for the past 18 years. I used to have lot of varieties of make models and scales in my collection. Later I trimmed my collection only to 1:43, and few trucks of 1:64. Now I have around 60 models in my collections and I mostly collect classic and vintage car models. The reason for creating the thread is, actually I was looking for some thread about hand build models in this portal, but I couldn’t find any….so I thought let’s start one by myself. Please share your thoughts and views about the models, makes and availability of the models. Approx. 10 years back I was introduced to handmade white metal models and I eventually very much attracted to them. Mostly handmade white metal models are available in 1:43 only. I bought my first model for Rs 1000/- then. My favorite brand is Durham classic models and Western models. Sadly in India there is not much available, mainly because of the pricing for the scale size of these models. But I managed to buy 2-3 models per year and still counting. First time I saw a collection of handmade models only in Europe few years back; I think now in India also it is picking up. In my opinion these models are • Hand crafted with details • Genuine collectibles. • The older the model higher the value. • Special, because models are created in hundreds in number. If you are an enthusiastic about latest fancy, fast and furious automobiles, then hand build white metal models may not be suitable for you, because there is not much models available. After all this is our hobby and this is what we love to do right? So please share your comments and views if you have any details about handmade models. I will post all my collections soon….take care. |

Posting few close ups...the interior seats, stearing wheel all made of metal. you can't open the door or hood. These models are called collectibles rather than models
