1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
This was my gift from Santa, last Christmas.
![]() Yet another interesting model by Welly (1/18). A little gyan: The Pontiac Firebird was built by the Pontiac division of General Motors between 1967 and 2002. The Firebird was introduced the same year as the automaker's platform-sharing model, the Chevrolet Camaro. This coincided with the release of the 1968Mercury Cougar, which shared its platform with another pony car, the Ford Mustang. The vehicles were powered by various four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and V8 engines sourced from several GM divisions. While primarily Pontiac-powered until 1977, Firebirds were built with several different engines from nearly every GM division until 1982 when GM began to discontinue engines it felt were unneeded and either spread successful designs from individual divisions among all divisions or use new engines of corporate architecture. (Source: Wikipedia) This model is the 1971-72 version of the car with the following specs: Engine: 7456 cc (455 CID) V8; Max Motive Power @rpm: 300 hp (223.7 kW) @4000 Max Torque @rpm: 415 lb-ft (563 NM) @3200 Transmission: 4 speed MT L/W/H: 191.6 inches/ 73.4 inches/ 50.4 inches Curb weight: 3691.6 lbs (1676 kg) Top Speed: 193 kmph ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hohohohoho!!!! Santa does know how to treat you. You are blazing the tracks today, on full burst-mode....... Another solid model from Welly. It's in my must-have 2012 wishlist (the blue-white combo). It should be tad heavier I guess considering its size. Keep 'em coming, mate. keep 'em coming.......

I like this car more than my SS. Reason - the color combo, the flying eagle logo, the air induction cowl, the awesome styling.
And also see that the spare tyre is detailed too. |

@antzster: lol! Yea, my wife being the Santa, surely knows how to treat me
@Manish: true that. The styling, detailing and the colour combos make this a killer. Gugga got the same one in blue. That's also a cool one. Abhiroop Chatterjee (Classic & Vintage Scale Model Collector) Flickr |

RE: 1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
^^ Get her man! This is the same model as the ERTL/GL one.
I believe Welly was an OEM for other brands, which explains the same mold theory. Heck, even the Autoart Miura SV and Diablo SV were made by them. Don't believe me? Check out the pictures of the Welly and Autoart models. Ofcourse, the Autoart have an edge in detailing, but for the price, the Wellys are second to none! *fcuk typos! Not gonna edit anymore! GAAAAHHHH! |
