Dealing with "gntlmnrcr"
Was going through the classifieds section of the BIIIIG forum one day, and happened to see something different - HWE 288GTO, Kyosho F40 and 512TR ! Called the seller the next moment, and after an hour of bargaining, we sealed the deal for 19k. I almost went crazy at the thought of owning these super-rare diecasts Banana_sml

The craziness lasted until I happened to see the most controversial thread on SMC (as Sid calls it). And then I kept wondering, am I going through the same ?

Here's the story so far -

I called him up, sealed the deal, then asked how he wishes to settle the payment. He said you can wire the money, and if you're apprehensive about dealing with me, you can ask Utkarsh from SMC. Wasn't an SMC member that happened, but happened to know Utkarsh on FB, so asked him n he said the guy is good to deal with. But somehow, I refrained myself from wiring the payment. I told him I cant pay until I see, so its better to let me know if he's in town. He happened to be in Bbay sometime in September, but our timings couldn't match. So I decided to go to Pune in October. That time, this fellow said he'll be in Delhi for some training, after which he'll go to Spain for work and return in March. I asked him repeatedly if I could collect the models from his house, since his family will be there, but no reply.

I've been WhatsApping this guy for a month now, n no reply from him, which left me wondering, has he sold it to someone else n is telling me "I'm busy" just to avoid the deal ?

Has anyone other than Ukarsh dealt with him ?

Does any Pune-based collector happen to know him personally ?

Please let me know
PS - I havent wired a single rupee to him. The best decision so far

RE: Dealing with "gntlmnrcr"
Hahaha....well Rosso, I have dealt with this so-called "gntlmnrcr" in the past and this was what happened:

I was interested in his UT models Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion plain body and had fixed up a deal with him on a very reasonable price. But all of a sudden, he stopped replying to my PM's and emails when many days later, I saw Utkarsh posting pics of the very same GT1. It turned out that the guy sold the model to Utkarsh instead for the reason that Utkarsh could pick up the model personally from him while for me, he would have to ship the model. So even without letting me know, he sold the model to Utkarsh while I was under the impression that we had sealed the deal and was waiting to go ahead on our deal.

Absolutely nothing against Utkarsh. But ofcourse, I sent a spate of spiteful PM's to "gntlmnrcr" for such irresponsible behaviour.

My favorite post on SMC "I wait for the day when you go ballistic while buying models after you get your first job. I think I would be seeing KV & the Modelart guys bursting fire crackers all day." (quote Winston)

RE: Dealing with "gntlmnrcr"
Did Utkarsh really buy it personally from him ? Coz I think he told me that the model was shipped. Anyways, this guy is doing the same with me. Has completely stopped responding to my msgs. In a fix now whether to wait or spend it on other diecasts :O

RE: Dealing with "gntlmnrcr"
Thank you for sharing this experience,Rushikesh.
I don't think the guy is out to defraud people as nobody has lost any money to him so far and there is one satisfied customer we know of.But I think he just isn't serious enough about the deals he offers and is totally careless and irresponsible. His word appears to have no value and if he is really as busy as he claims he is then he should perhaps wait for a time when he can actually go through with a sale before making threads all over the place about it.Rs19,000 for those three 1:18 Ferraris, while good, doesn't sound like a basement bargain.Go ahead and look for deals on these models online and buy them too if you find them for a decent price.Because even if he comes back from 'Spain' and calls you up to know when you want your Ferraris, you can be rest assured that if there is one thing Mr Gentleman (Really?) Racer can't do,it is to accuse YOU of going back on your word.Big Grin
