RE: my 1:50th mining models
Welcome aboard Mithun! You'll feel right at home here. A few of our members are into heavy machinery and you can see their collection in the respective sub-forum!
What a spectacular start to your innings here, that Hitachi digger has lovely detailing and presence! I don't know what the Catterpillar is (digger?, mover?) but that looks lovely too. Those little wooden planks are a great touch. Are they for a diorama? What is that small light like thing in the last photograph...? |

RE: my 1:50th mining models
Thank you for the welcome Guggga, It feels good to see like minded people with beautiful collections which i thought were hard to see in india.
the excavator is a Hitachi zaxis 870 model made by WSI models, its a limited edition model with a run of only 1000 units in the excavator configuration. The Caterpillars, one is a D6T dozer made by norscot and is my first earthmover model, the other one is a 657G motor scraper which is usually used for applications involving simultaneous cutting and moving of soil/ore. well this is my collection for now, but i plan to collect more as and when my finances allow, Thanks. Just forgot, those wooden planks are for a diorama which i will be building once the collection grows by a few more models, they along with flood light and the tank are handmade by me thats a floodlight i made out of mseal putty and LED, its 1:50 scale |

RE: my 1:50th mining models
Mithun, welcome to SMC where we collect everything automotive under the sun. Glad to see another guy who is into mining equipment. Do check out global ebay where you sometimes get good deals on mining equipment. Looking forward to see your collection grow.

Welcome to SMC Mithun. A unique collection from the rest of us here. A diorama would definitely suit those very well. Do post bigger pics from next time on.

RE: my 1:50th mining models
thanks so much for the warm welcome guys, I messed up on the picture size when posting via image shack.. will try posting in a better picture size next time
.winstoncds , thank you so much, ebay is a nice place to hunt for models. I usually purchase from a site called 3000toys.com . a good place for diecast construction models, they have a good selection from nzg, first gear, ertl, twh and WSI. but the only drawback being that the minimum order quantity for international buyers is 100 dollars. but anyways slowly and steadily i am hoping to collect more |

RE: my 1:50th mining models
Mithun,
Welcome to the forum, I am loving those mining equipments and the diorama that you are building would be nice thing to watch. I too have the Cat Track type tractor with me but with out the accugrade stuff (the two pillars next to the blade, they are GPS recievers, they tell us where the high ground is and then to doze that land). The other stuff that you got is Wheel traxctor scrapper, which is also a very nice machine, can you give us detailed pictures of the same. Of all things, the tank kind of thing (the 6th picture) is intriguing to me, can you share more details. |
