The 1:18 Mercedes Benz O317 Porsche Renntransporter you see below is by Schuco.The model was developed by Schuco in collaboration with Premium ClasiXXs and comes in a box with the name of either brand written on it.My example,as mentioned,is a Schuco branded rendition.
The Mercedes-Benz O317 was converted from a bus to a racing car transporter with the body from Stuttgart based company,Robert Schenk.Porsche had two transport vehicles specially developed for the requirements of motorsports.These vehicles could not only transport Porsche racing cars but all the necessary spares such as engines,gearboxes and body parts as well.These two vehicles,often derisively called 'removal vans',were being used by Porsche's racing division well into the Eighties.
The 1:18 Porsche 917K in the photos is by AutoArt.
The red and white liveried Porsche Salzburg #23 car seen below was driven to victory at the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1970 by Stuttgart's own Hans Herrmann and Englishman Richard Attwood through pouring rain in a wet race that saw only seven ranked finishers.Martini's blue 917LH with a green 'Psychedelic Hippie' design came in second.Both cars were later paraded across Stuttgart.To complete Porsche's triumph,a 908 came third,a 914 sixth,and a 911S seventh,beaten only by two Ferrari 512 racers.The car seen below was powered by a 4.5 litre engine and is one of the most successful versions of what is widely regarded as the greatest racing car in history.

All the body panels are solid metal making this a very heavy model.The lift you see in these photos is plastic but you feel no fear while parking a 1:18 scale-model on it.And it gives you no reason to either.Good job,Schuco!!This thing is properly sturdy.

Good thing you did the shoot with a car, that way we don't forget how big this is.
The finish is very well done I must say. Some of the interior shots looks like you actually walked into the transporter, the view is realistic, eye level.
And +1 at those warnings, they do look fantastic.

Wow what a mind blowing stuff. This one is huge and the red color suits both of them. The detail on the Transporter is so nice. I like the lift, It might be Hydraulic powere in theoriginal and driven by a motor or engine. And there is so much to do around. You are indeed having a merry time.
