'Is that LEGO?', thats the first thing my 5 YO nephew asked why looking at the truck. Awesome stuff Sid. It might be not as dramatic as the CMC Mercedes Benz transporter but I guess the sheer size of this van must be over whelming. You should build a diorama around this van and race car. Better still if you have the Gulf liveried 917K cars cause if I remember right, Nikhil had those 1:18 mechanics in Gulf uniforms too.

If you can't dazzle them with brillance, baffle them with bullshit.

RE: 1:18 Mercedes Benz O317 Porsche Renntransporter & 1:18 Porsche 917K
A big THANK YOU to all of you for the compliments.I haven't answered some of the questions that were asked so here goes.
I don't know it the seats are movable,Channa.Never tried adjusting them.Wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to be functional. This thing is packed with lovely little details.
And Manish,I have no problem concentrating on studies as these models arrive at home while I'm miles away in college. And now that I'm home,I don't have anything to study as our vacations are always between two semesters. So I have all the time in the world to devote to my collection.Big Grin
Abhiroop,as Manish has so kindly pointed out,the 1:18 Mercedes Benz O317 Porsche Renntransporter is by Schuco and the 1:18 Porsche 917K is by AutoArt.And thanks for translating the German warning sign.Your interpretation sounds about right.Smile
Thanks for the rep,Arun!!Glad you liked what you saw.
I'd love to get a diorama going,Winston. But at the moment,I've barely got enough space to store this gigantic model in its box.And Nikhil has the 1:18 mechanics by TrueScale Miniatures? Now I gotta pay Gift Centre a visit.I agree about the blue Mercedes Benz Renntransporter that CMC makes a 1:18 scale-model of being prettier than this. But I reckon this thing is about two to three times bigger. So you're right again about the size of this van lending it tremendrous presence.
Thanks once again for looking,everyone!Smile
Typo:'I don't know if the seats are movable,Channa.'
I know I don't need to correct all typos,Karan.But I think I've got a bit of an OCD.Can't help it!Big Grin
By the way,as Manish has correctly mentioned elsewhere,I do also have the 1:18 Mercedes Benz Renntransporter by CMC in my collection.Big Grin

Sid, how about posting pictures of your CMC Merc transporter, not that I have not seen before. But it will be nice to see on our forum. If I hit a jackpot this will be the first one to come in my collection.
I would suggest you get this one by CMC or Exoto, this is so damn awesome

Also see this for the Porsche Transporter Diorama

There is a VW wan in this diorama available here https://modell-paradies.de/en/item/schu0...che-racing

Lastly at this site they have dealt on thransporters, nice to see other transporters too.

RE: 1:18 Mercedes Benz O317 Porsche Renntransporter & 1:18 Porsche 917K
Thanks for the comments,Amar and Manish.
I'll try to post the CMC 1:18 Mercedes Benz Renntransporter. But it's in storage and a bit difficult to reach.I'll see what I can do.
And thanks for posting photos of this magnificent new CMC 1:18 Fiat 642 RN2 Bartoletti Ferrari Transporter. It is absolutely beautiful but the price is a BIG deterrent. If I buy online, shipping will ruin the party and the Customs are scary too.And if Nikhil or Rakhesh get it,their profit margins will send the price soaring.(They too will add shipping costs to their price as I doubt they'll be importing in large numbers.)I'm also trying to minimise purchases of larger-than-normal models as they are very difficult to store.Have quite a few 1:12 models and a Schuco 1:18 Mercedes Benz Fire Truck on my wish-list but they'll have to wait till I've got more space.

Sid,

A 1:43 sclae by Exoto of the same truck that I posted is in Adil Jal Dharukanwala's collection. Thats where I came to know of it. By the way How about Merc Truck by Minichamps (the shell gas carrying version), that is awesome too, will make a nice diorama with your transporter. I want that in my collection but have no approval of finances.

Yes.The 1:18 Mercedes Benz L6600 'Shell' Tankwagen by Minichamps is on the wish-list too.But I'm gonna have to stick to 'normal-sized' 1:18 scale-model cars for a while now.Big Grin
And thanks for the kind words, chanakyav!!Smile

RE: 1:18 Mercedes Benz O317 Porsche Renntransporter & 1:18 Porsche 917K
Something I forgot to mention earlier about the 1:18 Mercedes Benz O317 Porsche Renntransporter by Schuco. It does come with rear-view mirrors but to avoid damage during transportation, they are packed separately.I forgot to attach them while taking these photos.Tongue Sorry.
