I like this kind of a display, but it eats up a lot of space.

So I take it no one is interested in the cases? Strange..

Not to disappoint you Cyrus, but Autoart display cases are available for Rs 800 - 850 a piece, + shipping of course and worth every paisa.

I have 2 such cases, and I had taken one such our local acrylic wholesalers long ago (in 2009 probably) who mentioned that the acrylic these cases are made of, are simply not available in India. Also, they are made from a single mold which adheres to the rigidity and finish. He offered me to build a clone of the Autoart boxes for Rs 350 a piece only that they will be glued. And they will not have a base-lock. So one picks up the box holding the top, the model falls on the floor with the base. So I gladly turned down the offer.

I am a strong supporter of storing diecasts in these cases because it protects the model from dust and other contaminants.

Everyone can opt for a few display cases to store the costly models. But honestly Cyrus, these look overpriced to me.

LEts not compare international prices or prices from 3 or 4 years ago to the ones from today. It just makes no sense. And in any case, as I said, it doesn't matter if no one buys as I will use them myself. to each his own.

BTW, minichamps cases were available for around 1300 a year and a half ago and they were smaller than this. Also, before I went to london, I had enquired about making these cases and they were coming to around 750 per piece. Do remember prices have gone up too.

Lets get the facts right.

The Autoart 1/18 display box costs $13.95 USD on its' website. With todays USD conversion that comes to ? 14 x 52 = Rs 728.

Check here

And with an order via an Autoart dealer in case you opt for 2 - 3 cartons (each carton has 6 pieces) through a Dealer like Modelart, you pay the MRP and zero shipping. You only need to wait for their consignment to arrive.

With stores like below you get even less, but I do not dream that much.

So of course I am making ample sense here with regards to Price Vs Quality.

Other than Autoart there are a few other manufacturer too who makes these around 10 - 12 usd a piece. Single mold with base lock.

I cannot vouch for the Minichamps cases since have I never seen/used them.

Yes, prices might have gone up. And in that case, the glued stuff does not make more sense at all, neither it did at Rs 750 a piece.

Why are we getting into a debate here exactly? I am just putting my facts as they are and so are you. It makes no difference to me if no one buys these. Also remember, Autoart and Minichamps and whoever else makes these can afford to sell them this cheap as they do a 1000 pieces or more at a time. I have done 20. Heard of Economies of Scale? This is precisely it. As I said, If no one buys these, I will put my own cars in them. Makes no difference to me.

I am not. And I am not concerned about whether someone buys them from you or not.

Definitely. Otherwise, one of those diecasts that we/you buy would have cost 30 times more than what you pay. We all know about it.
Also I know you have a few extra ones you want to sell which is fine.

So, why I have wasted my time in typing out so much of stuff when I seldom post anything here?
Just to put a perspective about building these cases in our Indian market when we can easily buy the better and kick-ass ones at cheaper prices available.

I have not post to bash you or stop your sales, I have posted so that other members do not get fooled/misguided trying to build these or buy these (from someone else).

Ari, with all due respect, you really do know how to use an oxymoron.

Sadly, no. I don't want to risk it getting damaged and neither do I want to go through the hassle of shipping it. I could give it to someone in bombay who could give it to you when he or she comes to Bangy if you know someone like that.

RE: Model car cases for 1:18 Scale
This thread is now closed. Obviously Cyrus only wanted to have his cabinets appraised. Quite evident from his last post to Asaran. Buddy, if you didn't want to ship them in the first place, why did you waste time and bandwidth saying you want to sell them?

If you can't dazzle them with brillance, baffle them with bullshit.
