RE: Subscription-Diecast
LOL! They are back!
I haven't read a magazine in years now... I used to be a die hard Overdrive fan, back in the days when they wrote 5 pages about a 100 CC motorcycle! Hahahah!

Are these magazines any good now? The Aventador is interesting.. wish it was the old time and they gave away Autoarts and UTs!

Thanks for the heads up Ravi!

RE: Subscription-Diecast
I know many who will disagree. But I'm a BIG TopGear India fan and subscriber. It is the most entertaining motoring magazine on the market.I still buy Autocar India every three months or so.As for the free models, there really is no point,is there??
Except maybe Business Standard Motoring. If I remember correctly,I read an advertisement few months ago according to which they were giving away a 1:64 Greenlight with a two or three-year (can't recall) subscrition.
I meant 'subscription'.

Inside every man is a little kid who wants to play.

RE: Subscription-Diecast
Well my subscription for Overdrive got over 3-4 months back. Its certainly my favorite, but since I never managed enough time to read even 10% of the magazine I didn't subscribe any further. But yeah I still buy random auto magazines at times - still love going through the pictures, must say that the photography standards have improved by a huge margin over the last few years.

I don't think subscribing towards a magazine just for the sake of a Bburago Aventador is a very bright idea Tongue

RE: Subscription-Diecast
Magazines are dying. Its too easy plus fast getting the info online. They themselves post almost everything live on twitter or fb.
I get the mags randomly after a few months, only Autocar, Overdrive or Top Gear, pick the one with the best cover...Haha. And the Anniversary issues, its a 1000 pages of magazines each September cuz both Autocar & OD release 500 pages overpriced anniversary issues...LOL!

Bout the free models its better to go for discount and get the model elsewhere. Oh and that 1:24 458 is RC.

Couldn't have said it better. I stopped getting home any magazines after my last subscription died out. Every magazine proclaimed the latest entrant into the market as a must have. That is ofcourse to garner maximum ad revenue and that is what killed it for me. I agree with Sid about BSM. I love it too. I used to like TG but not anymore. Also, Bertrand D'Souza from OD is a classmate of mine. He was crazy about cars in school itself.

If you can't dazzle them with brillance, baffle them with bullshit.

LOL so true.
Oh and how could I forget this, half the mags are filled with full-page adverts.

RE: Subscription-Diecast
Yep the whole mag culture is dying. Thanks to the internet. For me it is a waste of money. I bought an Overdrive a few years back, and that was the last magazine I bought. Frankly speaking today you can get any information that YOU NEED via Google.

If Mags really want to attract people, they should have an online option and a PDF download at 1/3rd the current price. And accept a bit of torrentbaazi that will happen.

Save paper, Save trees!
