BMW 2002 turbo

This is one model I have been wanting to add for a long time. My love affair with this car started when I seen a road test of it on TopGear some years ago and was delighted to know that AUTOart had made a model of it. The only thorn on its side was the huge asking price for the model. I got a great discount on this one and 3 other cars (all most wanted) when the Modelart store in Bombay was closing down.

The BMW is another of AUTOart's good efforts and it shows. The paint is uniform, the engine compartment is well done, the underbody is quite detailed, the printing is sharp, chrome is nice and shiny, stance could have been a little lower, lights are great as always, the roof lining is cloth-type unlike plastic on any of my AUTOart's. The wheels and tires are good (I would have liked a little broader tires on this one, but I guess back in the '70s this is all you could get).

I would also like AUTOart to add little bonuses like how Kyosho does with its models, especially the spare wheel under the removeable floor mat in the boot.

My favorite part of the car is the front fender with its very cheeky and very politically incorrect '2002 obrut' stickering. This car might have been tiny but this idea by the marketing men at BMW certainly gave it a larger than life image and attitude.

Whohoah!!This is my second favourite period Bimmer.Love those flared wheel-arches with their exposed rivets and that super-groovy M-Division striping. And that 'obrut' decal is SO cool.I notice your white rendition comes with black wheels. They look great. The rims on my silver AutoArt example are a less sporty silver design.Great model,Winston. And it's good to hear you got it at a discounted price.Congrats!!

RE: BMW 2002 turbo
What a co-incidence! I was checking out prices for this one on Ebay just today!
This is on my list too, right after I get me the E30 M3.

Great model Winston!

HOT DAMN! These pictures are the perfect remedy for a boring Monday morning. The model's details are exquisite, the paint job, superb, and the subject matter, captivating! I absolutely love the spoiler and wheel arches - brilliant! Winston, I remember you having suggested I get this one to go with my other BMWs, but I never really got to it. I will now. Big Grin

RE: BMW 2002 turbo
IMO this is the best Bimmer ever by Autoart. Its one of the first cars in my Whishlist. I've made up my mind that I'll stick to classics after I acquire a few modern cars from my wishlist before they become absolutely unaffordable.
Great stuff Winston!!! Classic gauges, the steering wheel, spoiler, vinyls, wheel arches, color combo everything is so perfect \m/
