The 1/1 was the basis for Ford's WRC effort from 92-96 and has been piloted by some of the best names in WRC including Sainz, Makinen, Delecour, Schwarz. Given the pedigree, the road goin Escort RS's are collectors items in the UK.

The road going car made 217 HP in standard trim and was fitted with a 2 liter turbocharged engine.

Truth be told, I didn't know much about this car. I cannot recollect right now, the moment at which I was inspired to pull it out of Winston's showcase from amongst all the other cars in there... I was really floating on a marshmallow thanks to all the beer he made me drink.

I was totally smitten by the way she looked. She reminded me of another classic favorite of mine- the E30 M3.
But then, the Escort RS goes one better - I turned her around and was blown away by the "whale tail" wing at the back. Its the most outrageous wing I have ever seen on a road going car!

Long story short- Winston saw me babbling drunkenly to the wing and went in another room and came back with a mint in box example of the same Escort RS!!

Damn!I was beginning to forget how crazy awesome that rear wing is.This is one really cool model,Guggga.And a bit of a rarity now.Minichamps has announced they'll be making it in black but I doubt it's coming out anytime soon.Same pinch,by the way.I've got one in exactly the same colour. Smile

And a thump on the back for Winston!Way to go,bro!!
Also,those 'Manga Men' look really cool.

This is a very rare UT - didn't see many on ebay and all of those were going for exorbitant money!

On another note, here's a sort of a tribute to the car by Jeremy Clarkson- who used to own one of these.

^^ Autoart makes the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. Sierra was the predecessor of the Escort.

UT used to make this Escort RS Cosworth. In this thread, I been talking of the UT model only Smile
