Hey everyone!

Anyone know any Customs Clearance agents in Mumbai who can help me clear an EMS item (Autoart Model) stuck in customs???

I received a letter from the customs dept. today informing me that my item has been detained in Mumbai for lack of documents!! Sad

i just need someone to go to the EMS Dept. near Sahara hotel in Vile Parle to submit my documents for me, give the customs 'mamu' there some green incentive and collect the model for me!!

Any help will be highly appreciated!!

PS: The Customs letter was mailed on the 4th of August and i received it on the 10th!!.... it also says that if i do not send them their required documents by the 17th, then the package will be disposed off!!! Sad

take the receipt for your purchase or any other thing you have to show how much the car is worth to them. Also take some money along just in case. They have been detaining almost ever model that comes through now. Complete assholes!

Relax and just go there. The same shit happened with me in Feb when I ordered my Kyosho 250 GTO. The seller hadn't marked it as "Gift" and on top of that wrote in big bold letters "Item insured upto $1000". LOL. Chodus thought its USD, whereas it was HKD!

1) Tell them that you are a collector and the items are not for a commercial sale.
2) Tell them that the item is a Gift from a friend/ colleague abroad who forgot to mark the declaration form appropriately.
3) If they still insist that you need to pay duty- get it calculated.
4) If the duty isn't too high, pay it up.
5) If the duty is high, he'll expect a bribe- depending on the duty (and your morality) you can haggle the price Tongue

As for me, I confused him with so much blabber, that he eventually let it go for free... and I also have a cousin (whom I am not too fond of) who works in Panchkula (HR) customs. I cited his name and also pointed out that the car was in HKD - unlike USD as they were thinking it to be.

What is the total no. of cars that are stuck at customs? Also, how much is the total value of these cars?

I can't go to Mumbai right now... am in the middle of something very important.
So i need to find someone who deals with these guys regularly and can clear my items quickly...
I presently have 4 Items stuck in Customs....
All 4 are Autoart 1/18 models bought from the US and Korea.
They're collectively worth approx 25 grand!
Presently i have only received a letter informing me that the model from Korea is stuck at the EMS customs Dept. for lack of documentation.
The other 3 USPS items have arrived in Mumbai on and around 28th of July. (Thats what the USPS track and Confirm Website tells me) Even though i haven't received any message from the customs regarding them, i might as well try and get them cleared too!

4 cars? Hmm.. no wonder they are doing a naked Red Indian dance around them.

As a rule, I ask all my sellers to mark my items as "gift". Also, try not to order more than 2 cars from the same seller- the bigger the package, the more chances that it'll be stopped. I order 1 car per seller- even though it might sound expensive, there are deals to be had ordering individually.

All 4 Models are from different sellers across the US!!! Smile

They just unfortunately, happened to arrive at Mumbai custom within the last week of July! Smile

Customs sucks man

I am getting the MINICHAMPS MERCEDES SLS WHITE 1:18 MUSEUM from UK and stuck in customs for 2 months now they send me letter through FedEx the carrier for car that they want clearance from Mercedes India (Pune) that i am getting Museum car piece from aboard which they can allow me to import and plus address of the place where i want to display with authorization from DC of the city or Governor of the State.

ROTF LMAO....Ravi, thats the funniest thing I ever read in a long time. Just imagining you writing to your State Governer saying you want to display your model car on your computer table and you need his permission to do the same.
This happens only in India.
