BMW E30 M3
![]() Added a AUTOart BMW E30 M3 Cecotto edition some days ago. Been after this car for a long time now and got it for a reasonable price. Typical AUTOart quality and the engine is one of the best I have seen among my cars. AUTOart took particular care while making the engines of their BMW lineup, be it the turbo 2002 or the M635 CSi. The steering wheel on the model appeared to be broken but then I happened to remember some owner of the model here say that AUTOart had actually modelled the steering rotation on the real car. The wheels dont turn much but the steering goes 1.5 to 1.5 lock on both sides. Nice feature. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With other M Power(ed) cars. ![]() With its arch enemy, the Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3L ![]()

RE: BMW E30 M3
So how much did this cost you exactly? Did you get it from modelart? Some of these older BMW's of the 60's and 70's really all look the same. I think having one model from each decade would really give a good feel to the whole BMW lineage collection.
These kinds of models, I feel, are good for those collectors who are now beyond the initial craze of cars like Ferraris, Lambos and Corvettes. Like for me, I have just started this hobby only last year and have about 10 1:18 models so even if I get this particular model for a steal, I wouldn't think of adding it just now. My favorite post on SMC "I wait for the day when you go ballistic while buying models after you get your first job. I think I would be seeing KV & the Modelart guys bursting fire crackers all day." RE: BMW E30 M3
Modelart sold their E30s a long time ago. I got this from a friend who was kind enough to bother himself for this model. You are right about the BMWs looking like one another. Porsches still look the same.
I wanted to have a line up of the ///M cars that I really liked and the E30 was right up there. Also it is a direct competitor to the 190E 2.3 and one is incomplete without the other. Now for a new generation M5 and I think I would be done for some time. Ferraris, Lambos and Corvettes are made by a number of model makers and hence are easier to find than these type of cars. Since we are not so familiar with such cars in India, they are not brought by the likes of Modelart to be sold here. Modelart had such a huge pile of M635 CSi cars with them and they could sell them only after a 40% discount. Fantastic car and I was lucky to get them with that huge discount. Winston. Awesome shots. The concubine n the Merc look lifelike.
Hate BMW and Autoart. I have the Merc now (thanks to you). But the Concubine is still so elusive... it hurts... |

RE: BMW E30 M3
Thanks Ravi. I have the three consecutive M3 cars, i.e. the E30 (Autoart) , recently added a yellow E36 (UT) and the red E46 (Autoart) and E46 M3 GTR (MC). I am yet to warm up to the new M3 and when I find it cheap (and in white with CF roof), I will add it.
