Please do not post threads, en queries, pictures related to R/C models and plastic toy cars like Centy etc. For this forum is not for discussing kid's toys and is strictly meant for die cast scale model collectors, who apart from die casts know the basic parts of a car like trunk, hood, undercarriage, etc.

Over the time I am finding several members asking stupid questions like where to buy R/C models and where to find plastic Mahindra Scorpios. Threads like those will be immediately deleted.

I had made the forum with basically no rules so that people can feel a space here, however it seems that given much space, we really wish to get off the tracks easily.

Things will be tougher from now!
hey ari,
ure right in away but i honestly feel u shouldn't be calling models of scorpios "toys" cause they're the only replicas avalaible of indian made vehicles.
Well, IMHO, Centy's models, though 'meant' to be toys, they seem really intricate and are truly scale models. Anyway, this forum is meant for Diecasts I guess, so such queries can be restricted to PMs.
About RC toys: ROLFLMAO!!! Those are meant to be toys!!! There's an RC forum for Indians I believe, besides.
This forum is for scale model cars, bikes, trucks, ships, construction, planes.....and there is some kind of detail required to pass muster. I wouldn't call Centy toys having intricate details because there are no intricate details. How can it be a copy of the real thing when the steering wheel is below seat level? We would be wasting precious bandwidth discussing such toys and please remember someone is paying good money to keep this forum running.
Let's specify these even more....we should restrict discussions to models made of DIECAST METAL......AFAIK Centy's are plastic if I'm not wrong.
I think the MR Bugatti that Ravi has is a resin model. Another thing is that Autoart is mostly plastic nowadays. The Maisto Porsche Carrera Gt is plastic in its lower rear half. The Autoart Mercedes Benz CL (new gen) is having very many plastic parts too.
Except for the fuel tank, pretty much everything on Maisto 1:18 bikes are plastic.
Centy may have started with an intention of making proper scale models but then do we just look at the exterior and say they look like Scorpios and Citys? Is there a scale mentioned and do they manage to keep scale across their variety? I for one would be glad to have models of Indians vehicles but would any of the Centys look ok next to the standard scales we have?
if i am not wrong Centy is meant to play nothing to with hobbies..
Well. I will say if the model is replicated well it should not matter whether it is plastic, resin or metal. The good point about Centy is that they offer something that majority of Indian auto fans can associate with. If one owns a Scorpio, no other company offers a scale model so they will love to have a Centy adore the desktop. We have to take things case by case, lets not trash everything Centy.
Well, the question here isn't whether or not Centy Toys makes products that Indian auto fans can associate with or that they make miniatures of cars no other manufacturer produces. The discussion here (I think) concerns the definition of the term,'scale-models'.And that is something Centy Toys are not, irrecpective of the case.As Winston has pointed out on several occasions, the stuff Centy makes cannot be described as precision scale-models.
However, the die-cast metal only restiction may not work.As pointed out by Shubham and Winston, excellent plastic and resin scale-models exist. Most cars built as kits are plastic and the end result,if executed properly, can feature better detailing than some die-cast metal models. For an example, look no further than the stunning 1:12 Ferrari Enzo by Tamiya that forms pretty much the centerpiece of MotoS aka Saleel's fantastic collection. Most of the body of that model is made of plastic. And then,of course, there is the very costly and exclusive world of resin scale-models.As you move further up,you arrive at the 1:8 Amalgam range. Some of those are made of real carbonfibre!
Good point about the plastic models....agree totally on Tamiya, they make amazing looking plastic models, infact you can't tell they are plastic, they look quite like the normal diecast models.
