Anybody who could shed some light on what product to use and how to go about polishing your diecasts? I want them to achieve a high level of sheen and glimmer.

A very vast subject. I am pretty obsessive about this subject thus I jumped in to reply. Ok, the first thing that you would like to know is you will seldom require to polish a diecast unless you are exposing it to dust and dirt. Waxing means you are adding extra glaze and shine to it with a bit of paint protection. You will need professional wipes, a pair of cotton gloves and the waxing compound.

Thanks for the links Ari but I was looking for something more Indian. And rather than just polishing my cars to clean them up, I wanted to apply some sort of wax which would give them an additional shine.
Could you suggest any Indian product?

Preferably Motormax or 3M wax. Diablo can comment better, but remember most of these cheap wax contains synthetic silicone that makes the paint thinner over the time. Diecast paint is very delicate and as such demands something better.

I use Turtle Wax and if you find it in your place, its the best. But be a little gentle on diecast models. As Ari said, the paint on the diecast is thinner than 1:1s.

I just read somewhere that one could use "toothpaste" to get rid of minor scratches on parts like the windscreen (plastic).

I use Formula 1 Metallic car wax on mine, applying using a cotton cloth. Still searching for lint free, microfibre cloth. I can't even find some to use on my 1:1 cars!
